About dhis2-a-go-go
This is the public journal of a reimplementation. DHIS2 is a Java platform that runs public-health data in some seventy-plus countries; DHIS3/go is a clean-room reimplementation of its web API in Go, with a newly engineered Python addon ecosystem, developed under the eSHIFT Partner Network umbrella by Entuura (Asia) Limited.
The reimplementation itself is engineering work. This site, by contrast, is a letter. Written whenever good progress has been made, in a Twainesque voice, by Mulberry Sellers: a traveller who has spent three decades in dozens of countries, in ministries and donor boardrooms and clinics eight hours from the capital.
What you can expect here
- Posts about choices, trade-offs, and the quiet accidents of a long rewrite.
- Posts about what the global digital-health community can borrow from aviation, banking, and telecoms.
- Diagrams for the structural questions, images for the atmospheric ones.
- Honest naming of hard problems, and a steady habit of not promising easy answers.
What you will not find
- Marketing. We are not selling anything you can buy here.
- Country naming for the sake of embarrassment.
- AI boilerplate, em-dashes, or boasting.
Source, correspondence, and the public dream
The workshop behind this site, and the DHIS3/go work it chronicles, is kept privately for the moment. When there is something properly worth showing to the public rather than describing in prose, we may place the code on open display in the usual quarters. For now that remains a bright and distant plan. Correspondence of the kind that improves the writing is welcome by any plausible channel; the writer is findable.
